People often ask me why I write as “S.B. Divya” - whether it’s a pen name for privacy reasons or to counteract gender bias in science fiction. This post explains it all, including why it isn’t really a pen name.

MACHINEHOOD: Cover & Pre-order Links!
Behold, the cover for my first novel!
This book has taken over 2 years, and I’m thrilled to present the artwork for it. Machinehood is the answer to my friends who’ve been asking when I’m going to write about artificial intelligence. The novel is set at the end of this century, and it explores the conflict between human and AI labor, the ethics of using AIs in that capacity, advances in biotechnology, and the meaning of intelligence. Yeah, that’s a lot - but it’s all wrapped up in a fun, fast-paced thriller plot. I'm hoping that Machinehood is entertaining, engaging, and sparks lots of conversation about the use of AI and biotech.
You can pre-order my book at Mysterious Galaxy, Amazon, Barnes&Noble, and probably anywhere else you usually shop for books. It will arrive on your doorstep or in your e-reader on March 2, 2021. I know that sounds far away, but it’s less than 7 months, and pre-orders are a big help to me and my publisher. Please share the links widely to anyone you know who likes science fiction!
You can get a sneak preview of the first 25 pages at the New Decameron Project.
